Meet Eric Duncan, Chiropractor

I started Duncan Chiropractic Group in 2004, but the experience I have gained dates back much further. I was born and raised in South Lyon, MI. Upon completion of high school, I traveled to Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA where I obtained my biology degree. Originally my purpose for majoring in biology was to open up avenues for a profession in education. My senior year of college, the "switch" happened and I turned my focus toward chiropractic. What caused this "switch"? My younger brother’s back!

The Chiropractic "Switch"

Doctors at a local University Hospital had told my brother that there was little chance he could finish his high school basketball career due to an injury to his lower back. Neither myself, nor my family, had ever been to a chiropractor before. We only took my brother to one because a close friend of the family had suggested doing so.

This chiropractor had my brother playing basketball at 100% in a matter of weeks. I didn't know anything about chiropractic at the time, but was determined to find out the scientific principles that supported the chiropractic profession.

Off to Chiropractic School and Around the World

After looking at research articles and reading testimonials of people who had been helped by a chiropractor, I realized that my Biology degree would take me to chiropractic school. I had found that this chiropractic thing really works! The next four years were spent in Davenport, IA attending the Palmer College of Chiropractic. Studies included anatomy, physiology, bio-mechanics, chemistry, neurology and other medical related topics. My extra-curricular activities were focused on the sports injuries aspect of chiropractic, because that is what brought me to this profession. I also earned my NSCA-CSCS certification, which allowed me to work with local athletes that had upcoming sporting events.

I was also given an opportunity to travel to Bolivia, South America to aid the people of the area with chiropractic care. For many people, this was their only chance to meet face-to-face with a chiropractic doctor. It was an amazing experience!

After completion of chiropractic school, I traveled to Chicago where I worked in a medical facility alongside Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Physical Therapists, and Massage Therapists. It is there where my experience grew. I found that each field was important and by combining the best of each discipline, I was able to give each of my patients the highest level of care.

Coming Home to Michigan

Four years in California, four years in Iowa, two years in Chicago! I had been away from where I was raised for ten years. Everywhere I had been was wonderful, but I realized the very best place to be was right here on my front porch. Brighton Michigan (near Howell) would become my front porch. Helping people in the Livingston County area find pain relief through chiropractic care, and letting them experience their own "switch," is something that I am proud to do, and look forward to doing for many years to come.
